Chapter 20

Lord Stratton had not entirely exaggerated. The view from the office atop the brewery was indeed spectacular. She spotted the Durham Cathedral immediately but much of the town was visible to the naked eye as well. Portions of it, those beyond the park from whence they’d come, were obscured but she kept this observation to herself, not wishing to mortify the man’s pride.

The office itself was empty except for an old wooden desk which stood in the corner. Behind it was a rickety chair.
